Wow. I can't believe I got a DD! THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR COMMENTS AND ENCOURAGEMENT!!
A lot of y'all asked for a description and I used to have something here but during some editing of this post it got deleted so imma try this again
This was an early piece from my thesis work for undergrad at Mississippi State University. My thesis ended up going in a completely different direction but I still really enjoy this piece.
Dimensions are roughly 7"x7"x11"
I don't wanna give too much away about the process but I made it by laying down tiles of ceramic slip onto plaster, peeling them off when dry, and then piecing each side together. There are actually two smaller diamonds inside the outer layer (This is far more noticeable when looking at it in three-dimensions).
Conceptually this was a study in form and process. I was exploring the possibilities and the limitations that working with ceramic slip provided and pushing myself out of comfort zones along the way. Needless to say, I'm really happy with what came of it.
Once again, thanks for the support and I'm going to have photos up of my actual thesis work soon!
